Kongsberg reports high level of demand for AUVsEquipment & Technology // June 20, 2006
Kongsberg Maritime has reported a high level of demand for its HUGIN AUVs so far in 2006.
At present, the new 4,500m depth rated HUGIN 4500 is under final assembly and testing. HUGIN 4500 has extended depth rating to 4,500m, increased battery capacity and a higher performance payload sensor package.
The payload sensor package for this particular AUV is being supplied by customer C&C Technology, Lafayette, Louisiana.
This HUGIN 4500 included, C&C Technology has taken orders for three deepwater HUGIN AUVs so far, and a team of C&C specialists is joining the HUGIN team during final assembly and testing.
Another HUGIN, a HUGIN 3000, is scheduled for delivery to Fugro at the end of this year. This will be the second HUGIN 3000 for the company.
A HUGIN 1000 is on order for the Royal Norwegian Navy, and is also scheduled for delivery at the end of 2006 (the HUGIN 1000 is mainly directed towards military applications but also has potential towards marine research).
This HUGIN is very advanced, with a very high resolution Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS), which is undergoing sea trials now.
