PEMEX awards contract for well test vessel

    Vessel & ROV News // May 12, 2006

According to broker Oceantrade Services LLC, Pemex Exploration & Production has issued an award letter to Maritima de Ecologia SA de CV (Marecsa) for a five year charter of a dynamically postioned well test vessel.

The vessel, to be named Voyager Sea, will be delivered in approximately 12 months by Secunda Marine Services, following conversion to the Pemex specification.

Voyager Sea will complement two similar vessels that Marecsa presently has under contract with PEP, Toisa Pisces and  Bourbon Opale.

Each of these well test/process ships are converted offshore support vessels, of about 90-100m loa, and are utilized by Pemex for flow testing of wells, as well as production support during drilling, repair or completion operations.

They are fitted with a process plant that will handle 15-20,000 bopd, and designed to service most grades of crude oil produced by Pemex. Production is either stored in on-board tanks, or re-injected into the field.
