Farstad invests in two more newbuilds

    Vessel & ROV News // March 28, 2006

Farstad will take delivery of its UT712L in March 2008.

The UT751E was ordered against a charter from Norsk Hydro.

Farstad Shipping ASA, through its subsidiary Farstad Supply AS, has signed a contract with Aker Yards to build two platform supply vessels. The first vessel is a platform supply vessel (PSV) of UT 751E type and the second vessel is an anchor handling tug supply vessel (AHTS) of UT 712L type (see photos attached).

The hulls for the vessels will be built in Romania and the outfitting yard will be Aker Yards Brevik. Delivery of the vessels is scheduled for December 2007 (UT751E) and March 2008 (UT 712L).

The PSV (UT 751E) will enter into the long term contract (34 months) that was recently awarded by Norsk Hydro. From start-up in August 2006 the contract will be serviced by the PSV Far Symphony until delivery of the newbuild.

The AHTS newbuild UT712L is part of Farstad's general fleet renewal.
