Aker Yards to build eight anchor handlers for Maersk

Deliveries of Maersk's new VS472 anchor handlers will start in 2008.

Aker Yards has been awarded a contract by A P Moller - Maersk for the construction of eight anchor handling tug supply vessels. 

The contract also includes options for two more sister vessels, and is valued at some NKr 3.3 billion.

The AHTS will be of the Vik & Sandvik VS 472 design and deliveries are scheduled for 2008 and 2009.

The vessels are of approximately 73.2m in length, with a breadth of 20.0m and moulded depth of 9.1m.
