    Naming ceremony for Smit Kamara

    The formal naming ceremony for Smit's new anchor handling tug supply vessel Smit Kamara took place on February 9th 2006 in Rotterdam.

    Smit Kamara is an 80 tonnes bollard pull anchor handling/tug/supply vessel with a specially developed Offshore Access System (OAS) developed by Fabricom Oil & Gas BV on behalf of the NAM and Shell UK Ltd.

    This heave-compensated gangway ensures safe access for maintenance crews to offshore platforms and is situated at the rear of the vessel.

    SMIT has won a five-year contract for transportation and accomodation services utilizing the new vessel.
