Fugro orders new AUVVessel & ROV News // February 15, 2006
Following the successful deployment of Fugro’s Echo Surveyor HUGIN 3000 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) in 2005, Fugro has announced that it has placed an order with Kongsberg Maritime for the purchase of a second HUGIN 3000. The vehicle will be delivered and tested during the fourth quarter of 2006 and will be ready for service by the end of this year.
Fugro will manage and operate the vehicle from its Aberdeen base but will deploy it worldwide.
In a statement, Fugro said the newbuild HUGIN 3000 will be equipped to the same standard as Echo Surveyor and will incorporate modifications already made to Echo Surveyor which are designed to enhance operational efficiency and improve safety and environmental performance.
The vehicle will be deployed either from one of Fugro dedicated survey vessels or from a local vessel of convenience depending on project specifications and requirement.
