DeepOcean to charter newbuild ST254 CD ROV/survey vesselVessel & ROV News // January 27, 2006
DeepOcean has entered into an eight-year charter agreement for the ST253CD.
DeepOcean in Norway has entered into an agreement with Østensjø Rederi AS which will see a new ROV/survey vessel built for the company. The vessel will be built based on what DeepOcean called "the very good experience DeepOcean has had with the MPSV Edda Fonn, which was built in 2003, and is now working for Statoil."
The newbuild, a ST254 CD design from Skipsteknisk in Norway, will most likely be built in a Norwegian yard and will have excellent capabilities for operations in the northern oceans. The building costs are estimated to be approximately NKr 350 million.
DeepOcean has entered into a charter agreement with Østensjø Rederi AS for eight years with options for extensions, including an option to acquire an ownership interest in the vessel. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 4th quarter of 2007.
“We are very pleased to increase our current fleet of vessels with the newbuild. The new vessel will give us the opportunity to stay in the forefront among subsea contractors providing high quality subsea services in a market considered to grow significantly in the coming years”, said CEO Kåre J Lie in a statement.
