Norwegian naval architects Skipsteknisk AS have provided Offshore Shipping Online with more details of the new ROV Survey Vessel the company is designing for Volstad Maritime AS in Aalesund, Norway.
The vessel is designated ST256 and is to be built by Fosen Mek Verksted AS in Norway.
Skipsteknisk says the innovative vessel, which is scheduled for delivery in May 2007, will be 94.60m overall, with length between perpendiculars of 82m, breadth of 22m, depth of 9.60m, and deadeight of approximately 3,500 tonnes.
With a deck area of approximately 1,000 square metres, the new design will have accommodation for 192, and have a helicopter deck capable of accommodating a Sikorsky N92.
The vessel will be arranged with a redundant DP system, moonpools, and a 150 tonne crane.
The ST256 is the second ROV survey vessel designed by Skipsteknisk AS for Volstad Maritime AS.
Bibby Sapphire, a ST253L design was put in operation in July 2005 and is contracted by the British company Bibby Offshore Ltd on a six-year charter.
