    HMC sets another record

    Projects and Operations // January 18, 2006

Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) has again set a world record with the successful installation of the Mardi Gras Thunder Horse Steel Catenary Risers (SCRs) (20in and 24in) in a water depth of 1,840m. This is the deepest 24in SCR ever installed.

The SCR campaign started in June 2005, but could not be completed then due to the ballast incident of the Thunder Horse platform.

The installation was extremely challenging as HMC's Balder required a good weather window of minimum seven days for each SCR, which goes far beyond any reliable weather forecast.
