Havyard Leirvik shipyard in Norway has secured a contract to build an AHTS based on a new design, the Havyard 842, for Havila Saturn KS for delivery in September 2007. The contract includes an optional vessel for delivery in January 2008.
"This is a very important part of our strategy at Havyard Leirvik AS, where our intention is to focus more on the technology part of shipbuilding, in order to be a better and more complete partner for our customers," said Geir Johan Bakke, President of Havyard Leirvik.
The design was developed by Havyard Maritime AS, and is the first design to built since the company was established in May this year, following the acquisition of Leine Maritime AS.
The new AHTS will be 73.50m overall, with a breadth of 17.20m, depth of 8.00m, and deadweight at 6.85m of 3000 tonnes. The vessel will have a bollard pull of 200 tonnes.
