C-Surveyor AUV programme going full steam aheadVessel & ROV News // November 2, 2005
C & C Technologies says it completed BP’s Angola Block 31 AUV survey on October 17th, and has provided an update on progress with its latest AUV acquisition.
The hazard survey encompassed more than 4,300 line kilometres and was completed with C & C’s C-Survey I AUV.
On completion of the survey, the C-Surveyor I, aboard Rig Supporter, began a pipeline survey in the West Africa region.
C & C’s second deepwater AUV, C-Surveyor II, was delivered to the company's Lafayette, Louisiana office in June 2005.
After several months of integrating proprietary hardware and software, the AUV was mobilized on Northern Resolution.
Currently, the C-Surveyor II is completing field operations in the Gulf of Mexico.
Thomas Chance, President of C & C Technologies, said: "It was a difficult time during this integration period. We had decided to change the traditional body design and incorporate new sensors to provide higher quality data. As with most reengineering projects, problems did arise, but our experienced AUV team quickly resolved the issues."
