    Vessel & ROV News // November 1, 2005

Aker Yards in Norway has secured a contract to build a ROV support vessel for Geo ASA in Norway for delivery in May 2007.

The vessel is an Aker Yards design, designated the Aker ROV 06. It is designed and equipped for subsea operations, including operations in Northern oceans, and will have first class seakeeping and ice-going capabilities, and excellent station keeping performance.

There is also a strong focus on safe and environmentally sound working operations, low fuel consumption and precautions complying with DNV's 'Clean' class notation.

The vessel will be fitted with specialized equipment including a ROV hangar with doors and have the ability to launch a ROV on both sides, as well as through a dedicated moonpool.

The new vessel will also have a large crane, helideck, and high standard, low noise level accommodation.

The vessel will be deliverd by Aker Yards' Søviknes shipyard.
