First transportation contract for Fairmount FjordProjects and Operations // October 18, 2005
Fairmount Heavy Transport NV in the Netherlands has announced that its has signed its first contract for newly acquired semi-submersible barge Fairmount Fjord.
Fairmount Fjord will transport the DP3 pipelay/construction/accommodation barge Jascon 5 from Mumbai, India to a Mexican port in the Gulf of Mexico.
This means that the company will start generating revenues this year, earlier than predicted, as the company had assumed that its barges would be idle until their completion as semi-submersible heavy transportation vessels in the third quarter of 2006.
Acting as manager for the project, Fairmount Marine BV has scheduled one of its long distance ocean going tugs to tow the loaded barge, a project which is expected to take about 46 days.
Fairmount Fjord has now mobilized from its current lay-up position near Stavanger.
