Farstad Supply in Norway has signed a contract with Aker Yards to build a UT732 CD anchor handler for delivery in the summer of 2007. The vessel will be delivered by Aker Brattvaag's Langsten shipyard.
Aker Yards said the design was developed in close cooperation within the maritime cluster in Norway, and has a high level of emphasis on future requirements and safe and environmentally sound operation.
Farstad Supply AS is wholly owned by Farstad Shipping ASA, and the new vessel will be the most advanced of its type in Farstad's fleet.
The new vessel will have engines providing 27,500hp and the vessel will be one of the biggest and most advanced vessels of its type, being 92.70m, and having a deadweight of 4,800 tonnes at 7.7m draft.
It will bear the class notation DnV +1A1, Tug, SV, IceC, E0, SF, Dynpos AUTR, Clean Design, Comf-V(3), TMON, BIS, DK(+), HL(p) and is a Rolls-Royce Marine design.
