Jumbo orders more heavy duty heavy lift vesselsVessel & ROV News // October 3, 2005
Jumbo Navigation, the Dutch heavy lift specialist, has placed a repeat order for two more 1,600 tonne lifting capacity vessels.
Jumbo set a world record last year when the 1,600 tonne lifting capacity Jumbo Javelin and Fairpartner entered service.
In a statement, the company said it was ordering two more vessels in order to meet what it called "the growing demand in the oil and gas industry."
Jumbo has ordered the sister vessels to the existing ships from Damen Shipyards in Romania with scheduled delivery dates of December 2007 and June 2008.
With an overall length of 144m, the J1600 class has a completely flush main deck. For optimum stowage configuration, each of the tweendeck pontoons is of variable in height.
The J1600 class vessels are capable of lifting single cargo loads of up to 1600 tonnes at a maximum radius of 32m and can accommodate cargo of in excess of 150m.
