Fairmount Sherpa secures Aleutian Key tow
Contracts, Tenders and Rates - September 26, 2005

Fairmount in the Netherlands has announced that it has been awarded the tow of GlobalSantaFe's semi-submersible Aleutian Key from Abidjan to Trinidad.
The rig will be in heavy condition and a draft of over 40ft is expected. Fairmount Sherpa will carry out the tow.
Although the distance between Abidjan and Trinidad is only about 3,600 nautical miles, due to the extreme draft of the rig a very powerful tug with an large bunker capacity was required, in order to perform the tow non-stop with sufficient contingency.
Fairmount Sherpa has a fuel capacity of in excess of 2,000 tonnes, and 200 tonnes bollard pull.
