More details on Wilson Sons Damen 7216 PSVVessel & ROV News // August 24, 2005
Offshore Shipping Online has obtained more details of the Damen 7216 PSV that is to be built for Wilson, Sons in Brazil.
The deal to build the ship was signed on June 8th this year between Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, The Netherlands and Wilson, Sons.
Under the terms of the deal, the 72m vessel will be built in Brazil under licence from Damen at Wilsons' shipyard in Guaruja (Santos). Damen will provide engineering, construction drawings and a material package.
The vessel, operated by Wilson, Sons, will enter into a charter contract with Petrobras.
The Damen 7216 PSV will have a deadweight is 3,149 tonnes, deck area of 630mē with a maximum deck load of 1,016 tonnes.
The tank lay-out includes fuel oil, potable water, ballast/drilling water, liquid mud and dry bulk.
Propulsion is based on a diesel-electric arrangement, comprising four main generators, two electric motors and two 1,500kW CPP azimuthing rudder propellers plus twin 600kW electric bow thrusters.
The PSv will have fully air-conditioned accommodation for 24 persons is included.
The Damen PSV 7216 will enter into service during the second half of 2006.
