    New crewboats building in Dubai

    Vessel & ROV News // August 22, 2005

Following the success of the Friah 1 and Friah 2, delivered in 2004, Arabian Gulf Mechanical & Contracting Ltd has placed an order for three sisterships.

The builder, Grandweld of Dubai, has delivered Friah 3 and is currently building Friah 4 and Friah 5.

The boats will be 30.5m overall with a waterline length of 27.12m and a 6.4m beam.

Each vessel will have a cargo capacity of 25 tons and open cargo deck area of 65 square metres. Tankage includes 31,700 litres fuel, 7,560 litres water and 1450 litres of sewage.

Like the first two crew boats ordered by the company, propulsion for the vessels will be provided by a pair of Cummins KTA38 M2 rated for 1,400hp each at 1,950rpm.

The engines will turn five-bladed propellers through ZF-3055 marine gears with 2.5:1 reduction. Design speed is 21 knots, and seating will be provided for 24 passengers
