Solstad orders another large construction vesselVessel & ROV News // August 19, 2005
Norwegian shipowner Solstad Offshore ASA has entered into an agreement with Ulstein Verft AS in Norway to build a large offshore construction vessel.
The new vessel, which is a Vik-Sandvik design, will have a length of 130m and breadth of 28m, will be equipped with a 250 tonne offshore crane, have a 2,000m2 working deck and DP Class 3.
The newbuild is due to be delivered in May 2007 and, at least as yet, is uncommitted.
Solstad already has on order at Ulsteinverft another large OCV, Normand Installer, and has also recently used Ulsteinverft to convert two cable vessels into construction/pipelay vessels.
