Aker Langsten in Norway has handed over the first example of a a new Skipsteknisk design - the ST-253 L - named Bibby Sapphire, to Norwegian owner Volstad Maritime.
Bibby Sapphire is the subject of a long term charter with Aberdeen, UK-based Bibby Offshore.
The ST-253 L is an extended version of Skipsteknisk's ST-253 design. The vessel has diesel electric propulsion.
Bibby Sapphire is equipped with a 150 ton/10m active heave compensated main crane and a 10t/20m handling crane. The ship has a moonpool of 7.2 x 7.2m and a full size ROV hangar with hydraulically operated launching system incorporated into the superstructure.
Forward of superstructure is a fully integrated helicopter deck for a Super Puma-size helicopter.
The ST 255 L is 94.0m overall, with a breadth of 18.0m, depth (to main deck) of 9.1m and deck area of 800mē. She is classed by DNV and bears the notation +1A1, SF, E0, DYPOS AUTR, ICE-C, CLEAN, COMF C3-V3, HELDK SH, FiFi II.
