Subsea 7 wins BP West of Shetland contract

    News // November 26, 2004
Subsea 7 has announced that it has won a contract award from BP for their 2005 subsea requirements West of Shetlands valued in excess of US$20 million.

Subsea 7 is the single contractor responsible for the underwater construction, inspection, repair and maintenance operations for BP's Schiehallion, Loyal and Foinaven fields which are located 150 km west of the Shetland Islands in water depths ranging from 400-500m.

The contract, which commences immediately, will see the multi-purpose support vessel Subsea Viking operating for BP between April and September 2005 with the potential for further work and an option for a similar arrangement in 2006.

Commenting on the award, Robin Davies, Subsea 7's UK vice president said," We have provided this unique service to BP since their installation of the fields in the mid 90's, and we look forward to continuing to support the operator in their efforts to gain the optimum productivity from these remote oil fields. The key reason for this success is the excellent performance of the personnel, the provision of key assets and commitment to the future of the West of Shetland operations".
