Kerr McGee acquires hull from Mitsui

    News // October 5, 2000
Kerr McGee has acquired an Aframax tanker from Mitsui shipyard in Japan for conversion into a FPSO. The topsides will be installed at Swan Hunter shipyard in the UK.

Once she has been completed, the FPSO will enter service in the Greater Leadon field as Global Producer III.

The hull was originally built for K S West Producer, the joint venture between Smedvig and Navion, but has lain unused at the Japanese yard for more than two years.
