Aker gets another piece of Maureen

    News // September 22, 2000
Phillips Petroleum Company UK Limited has awarded Aker Maritime a further contract in connection with the removal of the Maureen platform in the UK sector.

The scope of work currently awarded on the new contract is worth around 7 million.

The new job embraces the whole work-scope involved in towing the platform and its loading column to Aker Stord in Norway after refloat, as well as cleaning the three storage tanks and a thorough inspection while further reuse opportunities are being sought.

Should the Maureen owners fail to secure reuse for the platform, the contract has an option for complete dismantling of the platform.

The new Maureen contract comes in addition to that awarded to Aker Maritime last year, which involves freeing the platform from the seabed and refloating it ready for transport.
