Kvaerner hands over Asgard BNews // September 22, 2000
Kvaerner has delivered the Asgard B gas platform - the world's largest floating production platform - to its customer, Statoil.
Kvaerner says that during the final phase of the work, the company met all of the project criteria and achieved the agreed milestones.
For Kvaerner, the financial out-turn for the project will produce a modest positive result this year.
Kvaerner was awarded the turnkey contract for the construction of the first floating gas production platform on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in January 1997.
It took Kvaerner approximately 13 million man-hours to complete the project.
"The execution of the Asgard B project was a substantial challenge", said Otto Soberg, President of Kvaerner's Oil & Gas Field Development business. "I'm proud of the efforts our employees have shown in this project, and I'm very satisfied with the co-operation we've had with Statoil. It has been a mammoth task, and I feel certain that Statoil will be pleased with the fine product we've now delivered", he said.
