Repairs required for Ensco rig

News - September 7, 2000

Ensco International reports that its jack-up rig Ensco 101 sustained damage whilst being moved into location in the North Sea on 07 August, and has moved the rig to a shipyard for repairs.

The damage was incurred whilst jacking the rig out of the water when a foundation failure and soil flow occurred under one of the legs. The foundation failure caused the leg to experience abnormal stresses, resulting in localised damage to the hull and legs.

Ensco says the rig could not be out of service until the end of the fourth quarter of this year.
