ERRVA welcomes union support News
// July 28, 2000
The ERRVA, the UK-based Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel Association, has warmly welcomed news that IUOOC, the Inter Union Offshore Oil Committee, the TUC constituted committee representing seven key unions with members working offshore, has come down firmly against the BP Amoco scheme to replace rescue vessels with helicopters.
Speaking at a press conference in Aberdeen - part of an open day held on board Viking Provider, one of the newest vessels in the ERRV fleet - Jeremy Daniel, Chairman of ERRVA said: "This is very welcome news, it makes for a very powerful team pressing for full scale industry consultation on this scheme."
The ERRVA also has the wholehearted support of OILC, the Oil Industry Liaison Committee.
The unions and ERRVA applaud the announcement that Aberdeen MP Frank Doran is organising an All-Party briefing session at the House of Commons, involving all interested MPs, the unions and ERRVA.
