Ceiba-4 comes up trumps Projects and Operations
// June 30, 2000
Triton Energy Limited says its Ceiba-4 development well offshore Equatorial Guinea has confirmed the oil pool found in the Ceiba-1, Ceiba-2, and Ceiba-3 wells. Ceiba-4 penetrated 269ft of oil-bearing pay in three zones based on the analysis of drilling,coring, wireline logging and samples.
The Ceiba-4 well confirmed the southern extension of the field, validating lateral reservoir continuity and connectivity in the oil reservoir tested in the Ceiba-1 recovery well and confirmed in the Ceiba-2 and 3.
Triton says it has re-negotiated and extended into 2001 the contracts for the two rigs it has been using in the field. Global Marine's R F Bauer drill ship will now drill another five wells, after which Triton has the option to extend the contract for another six months.
The Sedco 700 semi-sub will drill and complete four wells in addition to its current contract, and Triton will then use the rig for another six months in order to continue developing the Ceiba field.
