    Pride drill ship starts work

    Vessel & ROV News // June 16, 2000
Pride International's recently completed drill ship Pride Angola has commenced operations offshore Angola for Elf Exploration Angola.

The Pride Angola is an ultra-deepwater drill ship capable of operating in water depths of up to 10,000 feet. The vessel is contracted to work for Elf for an initial term of three years.

The Pride Africa (shown here), a sister ship to the Pride Angola, is currently in South Africa completing testing prior to its redeployment.

The Pride Africa also is contracted to Elf to work offshore Angola for an initial term of five years and is expected to resume operations within the next few weeks.

Both the Pride Angola and the Pride Africa are owned and operated by a joint venture between Pride and Sonangol, the state-owned oil company of Angola.
