    Kerr-McGee deepwater discovery

    News // June 16, 2000
Kerr-McGee has announced another oil discovery in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, on its Gunnison prospect (Garden Banks block 668).

The 17,000-foot discovery well, located in 3,150ft of water, is the company's third discovery in the past nine months in this area.

The Gunnison sub-basin includes Garden Banks blocks 667, 668 and 669, all operated by Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kerr-McGee Corporation.

Partners in the blocks are Canadian Occidental Petroleum Ltd, with a 30 per cent interest, and Cal Dive International, with 20 per cent interest.

The Noble Amos Runner, which drilled the discovery well, is currently drilling a down dip appraisal sidetrack to explore the extent of the reservoir.

Additional appraisal sidetracks are being considered to further delineate the Gunnison discovery.
