Louise Dreyfus Armateurs and Alcatel in France have ordered a pair of cable ship newbuildings from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Korea. The order, which also includes and option for two more ships, will be worth some $180 million if the options are taken up.

Louise Dreyfus Armateurs and Alcatel are currently setting up a jointly owned company which will assume ownership of the newbuildings, which are slated for delivery in the third quarter of 2001 and first quarter of 2002, respectively.
