Vessel & ROV News - May 22, 2000
Ferguson Shipbuilders in the UK has handed over a powerful anchor-handling tug supply vessel (AHTS) to Stirling Shipping. The newbuilding is capable of a continuous bollard pull of 173t and is based on a design developed jointly by her owners and by Norwegian naval architects Vik & Sandvik.
All of the deck and towing equipment was supplied as a package by EMM Corporation Ltd, including the triple drum, and waterfall anchor-handling and towing winch which has a static brake capacity of 430t.
A notable feature of the design is the incorporation of a number of 'safe havens' for crew members, which are arranged around the aft deck.
