    British companies form alliance

    News // May 22, 2000
Cammell Laird, the well known British ship repair and conversion group, and shipping company James Fisher have formed a Joint Venture (JV) to address the market for specialised conversions such as cable layers.

The two companies have already acquired a pair of vessels for conversion into cable layers or multi-role offshore platforms.

The first ship to be converted by the JV is the Oceanic Cavalier, a diving support vessel. The second is the Sun Pegasus, a small container ship.
