    New cable layer starts work

    Global Marine's new cable ship, the Wave Sentinel, has begun work off the south west of the UK laying and ploughing a fibre optic cable from Whitesand Bay to Waterford in the Republic of Ireland.

    The former ferry, originally built for Commodore Shipping, was converted at Cammell Laird in the UK and entered service in March.
