Snorre B heavy lift about to start

    Projects and Operations // May 22, 2000
Smit Transport & Heavy Lift's large floating sheerlegs Taklift 4 will be making the first of two scheduled visits to Aker Stord in Norway in June.

The 1,400-tonne capacity sheerlegs will be undertaking a series of lifts during June and July in order to install components for the semi-submersible production vessel (SSPV) Snorre B.

Smit is carrying out the work under contract to an Aker Maritime and Kvaerner Oil & Gas joint venture (JV).

Smit says its contract for the JV incorporates lifts of various modules and their installation on the top deck of the SSPV. The work will be undertaken in the dry dock at Aker Stord.

The main components to be installed include the Ramrig, and the compression, separation, and gas dehydration modules.
