    Maridan to build deepwater AUVs

    Vessel & ROV News // April 21, 2000
Maridan says it has decided to manufacture three AUVs specifically designed to carry out deep-water surveys, although no customers for the AUVs have been identified as yet.

Maridan describes its decision to build the AUVs as "an aggressive initiative made to accelerate the use of new AUV technology in the survey market".

The company says the aim of the project is to prove the benefits offered by the Maridan deep water AUV systems under practical survey conditions.

Managing Director Jens Find says he expects the first two AUVs to be ready some time in May.

Compared to Maridan's existing AUVs for shallow water operations, the newupgraded versions are being constructed to be operating at depths of up to 600m.

The company says the next step in its deepwater development programme will be the MARIDAN 3500, which will be available in the first quarter of 2001.
