    Pipeline bundle installed

    Projects and Operations // April 21, 2000
Van Oord ACZ has started installing a bundle of pipelines and optical cables between the islands of Pulau Ular and Pulau Seraya, beneath the Sinki Fairway. The company is carrying out the work on behalf of Kvaerner R J Brown. The first string was startedon 25 February.

A total of 19 strings will be pulled and joined, resulting in a total length of 4.5km. Each string consists of a bundle of eight pipes and two fibre-optic cables which, when completed, will form one of the biggest pipeline/cables ever pulled.

The total scope of work involves dredging a trench and preparing the seabed for the bundle, pulling the bundle into the trench, backfilling and installing rock armour protection.

Van Oord ACZ signed the contract with Kvaerner RJ Brown, with Shell Eastern Petroleum as the ultimate client.
