Leiv Erikkson sea trials make progress

    News // July 13, 2001
Ocean Rig reports that, since starting sea trials on 07 May, its first rig, Leiv Eriksson, has completed the inclination testing and numerous other technical system tests. Installation of its six thrusters has also been completed.

Ocean Rig says it has experienced "some minor technical problems during this period, none of which are viewed as serious," and estimates that the remaining tests will be completed by the end of July.

The company says it is also negotiating a drilling contract for the Leiv Eiriksson and anticipates that the rig will be on contract when the sea trials are completed.
