// June 15, 2001
Husky Oil Operations Limited, operator of the White Rose oilfield, has filed a response to the request for additional information by the Commissioner appointed by the Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NOPB) to review the White Rose Development Application.
The Commissioner sought clarification on the differences between the use of a gravity-based (GBS) and floating production, storage and off-loading system (FPSO) and the rationale for Husky's choice of using an FPSO for White Rose.
Husky's response provided the Commissioner with additional information supporting the decision to select an FPSO. The FPSO concept was employed bythe Terra Nova project and provides an economically viable solution for theWhite Rose project.
Regarding the Commissioner's questions on the industrial benefits that will flow to Newfoundland from White Rose, Husky stated that between 60 and 80 per cent of the project could be performed in Newfoundland, depending on the international competitiveness of topsides fabrication.
