    News // May 18, 2001
Seahorse Shuttling and Technology LLC - a subsidiary of Conoco - has formed an alliance with Alabama Shipyard and Samsung Heavy Industries to develop shuttle tanker designs to be constructed in the US.

Vice President and General Manager, Conoco Supply and Trading, Rick Oshlo, says he is confident that the designs will win approval for use as shuttle tankers in the Gulf of Mexico.

Conoco and the Korean yard say they have already completed conceptual design of a new tanker, which they are calling the Gulf of Mexico Maximum Cargo (GOMAX) shuttle tanker. The double-hulled, dynamically positioned design will have a capacity of more around 550,000 barrels and is also capable of meeting draft restrictions in Gulf coast ports.
