Horizon acquires construction vessel

Horizon Offshore has purchased the bury barge Atchafalaya Bay and says the barge will now undergo conversion to a combination lay/bury barge at Horizon's Port Arthur facility and will be renamed the PECOS Horizon.

The Pecos Horizon will be capable of laying pipelines up to 20in in diameter and operating in water depths up to 500ft. The vessel will also be capable of burying pipelines up to 60in in diameter to depths of 16ft below the seafloor. This vessel is scheduled for deployment later this year.
