    FPSO contract for ABS

    News // May 4, 2001
American classification society ABS has been selected to handle class related work on one the world's largest Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) projects.

Working on behalf of main contractor Kellogg Brown & Root, ABS will class two FPSOs for Petrobras' deepwater development in the Barracuda and Caratinga Fields offshore Brazil.

The two FPSOs will each be capable of storing around 2 million barrels and processing 150,000 barrels per day, and will be converted from two ABS-classed VLCCs, the Stena Continent (destined for the Barracuda Field) and the Stena Concordia (destined forthe Caratinga Field).
