J Ray McDermott begins work on Shell project Projects and Operations

J Ray McDermott Middle East, a subsidiary of J Ray McDermott SA has announced that construction has begun at its Jebel Ali fabrication yard on three wellhead decks that will be part of the Shell EA Development project located off the coast of Nigeria.
The contract to fabricate the decks was awarded to J Ray McDermott by Stolt Offshore Services, as a sub-contract to the EA Development project for Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd.
J Ray McDermott is also responsible for loadout and transportation of the structures. The decks are scheduled to leave the yard in December 2001.
Shell's EA oil and gas field is located 43 miles off Forcados in the oil-rich Niger-Delta. The field holds estimated reserves of 364 million barrels of crude oil. When production commences, the field is expected to produce a daily average of 140,000 barrels of oil (170,000 barrels of gross liquid) and 100 million cubic feet of gas.
