    Croatian yard wins cable layer

    Yard News // May 4, 2001
Croatian shipyard Viktor Lenac says it has been awarded a contract to build a cable ship for Bohlen & Doyen in Germany.

Viktor Lenac has completed a number of cable ship conversions, but this is its first newbuild contract.

Among other recent orders for the Croatian yard is a multi-purpose offshore tug, the first vessels of its type to be built in Croatia.

The tug is to be built for shipping company Jadranski Pomorski Servis, and will be based on the AS Type 3211 design. It will be certified to escort tankers and carry out pollution prevention duties.

In March, the Viktor Lenac yard also announced that it had obtained ISO 9001 accreditation to add to the ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 certification it already holds.
