    Unions protest against Trico

    News // May 4, 2001
The latest twist in the long running dispute between Offshore Mariners United (OMU) and Trico Marine Services saw the OMU lead a rally against Trico at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) this week.

The aim of the rally was to protest against what the OMU calls Trico's "anti-worker and anti-union policies" towards mariners working on the company's US-flag vessels in the Gulf of Mexico oil fields.

Representatives and members from several other unions joined OMU.

Dave Eckstein, Field Director of OMU, addressed the crowd, saying, "Theanti-union, anti-worker practices of companies operating in the Gulfof Mexico fly in the face of the US Constitution, the laws of this countryand all international standards of human rights and worker's rights and itmust stop".
