    Rates for standby vessels surge

Contracts, Tenders and Rates // May 4, 2001
Rates for standby vessels have taken a significant jump during the last month with BP paying £8,000 for the BUE Lismore for Everest whilst Santa Fe is reported to have paid close to £5,000 for the Veesea Pearl for a one plus one well operation.

Aberdeen Offshore Shipbrokers says most owners have 'sold out' notices up and it may well be that vessels will come from lay-up if the current levels and demand remain.
