    Rates for standby vessels surge

Contracts, Tenders and Rates // May 4, 2001
Rates for standby vessels have taken a significant jump during the last month with BP paying 8,000 for the BUE Lismore for Everest whilst Santa Fe is reported to have paid close to 5,000 for the Veesea Pearl for a one plus one well operation.

Aberdeen Offshore Shipbrokers says most owners have 'sold out' notices up and it may well be that vessels will come from lay-up if the current levels and demand remain.
