    CSO Deep Blue christened

    Vessel & ROV News // March 9, 2001
Coflexip Stena Offshore's ultra deepwater pipelay and subsea construction vessel, the CSO Deep Blue, was formally named on 25 February in Ulsan, Korea, after successful sea trials.

After the ceremony, the vessel left Ulsan and set sail for the Netherlands, where her pipelay equipment will be installed. The pipelay system will allow the vessel to lay rigid pipe (reeled and J-Lay), flexible pipe, and umbilicals down to 8,200ft (2,500m).

CSO Deep Blue is scheduled to begin operations in mid-2001 after installation of the equipment. During summer, she will undertake an installation contract on the Boomvang and Nansen field developments in 3,600ft (1,100m) of water in the Gulf of Mexico. She will start operations from the newly established CSO spoolbase located in Mobile in the US.
