    New record for Dockwise

    News // February 9, 2001
Heavy lift shipping specialist Dockwise has delivered the 41,106t semi-submersible production unit Petrobras 40 from Singapore to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

After a conversion at the Jurong Shipyard in Singapore the Petrobras 40 was loaded on board one of Dockwise's largest vessels, the Mighty Servant 1.

The hull of the P40 measures 123.75m in length and 83.82m in width. As the P40 was stowed transversely on deck of the Mighty Servant 1, the total width of the transport measured 181.43m.

The P40 was positioned off centre on the deck of the vessel, which resulted in an overhang on the portside of 45.99m and on the starboard side of 85.44m.

In order to load the semi-submersible the Mighty Servant 1 had to submerge to 25 metres aft.

After a 43-day voyage from Singapore, the P40 unit was safely discharged at Guanabara bay in Rio de Janeiro on 14 January.
