    Solstad makes headway in Asia

    Norwegian shipowners Solstad has cemented a contract for two AHTS to Murphy Oil in Malaysia. The two vessels set for the Orient will be the UT740 Normand Atlantic and VS480 Normand Ivan.

    The charter is due to start either in November or December of this year with a fixed period in the region of six months for each vessel covering three wells firm and options on another seven.

    The expected contract revenue will be in excess US$7 million (circa US$19,500 per day per vessel).

    Taken together with earlier contracts with Reliance Industries Ltd in India,Solstad says it considers the contracts with Murphy Oil to be an important breakthrough in the Asian market.
