MCA brings case against shuttle owner

    News // December 1, 2000
The Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) in the UK has successfully prosecuted Partrederiet Stena Ugland Tankers for a incident in which its shuttle tanker Stena Alexita was found to have polluted the sea off the coast of Scotland in June of this year.

The Stena Alexita was photographed by a Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency surveillance aircraft trailing an oil slick on 16 June.

Investigations carried out by the MCA determined that approximately 1.5 tonnes of oily water had been pumped overboard.
