Croatian yard to convert cable layer

    Yard News // November 3, 2000
Demand for cable laying vessels continues at a high level, one of the latest contracts for such a vessel being placed with Victor Lenac shipyard in Croatia.

The Croatian yard has won a contract from Darjul Limited, acting on behalf of Alcatel and TeleDanmark, to convert the general cargo vessel Kraka into a cable layer.

As part of the conversion, the yard will reduce the length of the ship by around 16m, install around 940t of new steel, install new cable tanks, new accommodation, and a new diesel electric propulsion system.
